Vacancies

The Governing Boards of St Peter’s High School, Rosary Catholic Primary School and St Thomas More Catholic Primary School are seeking to appoint a Clerk to Governors.

The Clerk will be accountable to the Governing Board, working effectively with the Chairs of Governors, the Headteacher and the Governors.

Consideration will be given to “Job sharing” or anyone interested in working at one or two schools rather than all three.

  • Grade/Salary: G (pts 19-27)
  • Actual salary £3,937 to £4,993 pa (hourly rate £10.08 - £12.78)
  • Term Time only

Hours:

Rosary Catholic Primary School
Hours – 78 hours per annum

Being available to clerk 5-6 full Governing Board meetings (max 2-3 hours) per year and 6 committee meetings (approx 1 hour each) across the course of the year. Full Governing Board meetings take place in the evening and the committee meetings are generally held early evening.

St Peter’s High School
Hours – 190 hours per annum

Being available to clerk 3 full Governing Board meetings (max 2-3 hours) per year and 19 committee meetings (approx 90 minutes each) across the course of the year. All meetings to take place early evening. In addition to these meetings the clerk would also be expected to attend exclusion hearing meetings to be held during the school day.

St Thomas More Catholic Primary School
Hours – 78 hours per annum

Being available to clerk 6 full Governing Board meetings (max 2-3 hours) per year and 6 Nursery Management committee meetings (approx. 2 hours each) across the course of the year. Full Governing Board meetings take place in the evening and the nursery management meetings are generally during the school day/late afternoon. In addition, the clerk would also be expected to attend governor panels to be held during the school day. The Governing Board are currently reviewing the benefit of holding some committee meetings in addition to the Full Governing Board meetings.

Start Date: 1 September 2018

The post holder’s main role is to provide professional clerking services to the Governing Board and other committees and panels, as and when required.  Additional duties will include:

  • Working with the Chair of Governors, to manage the business of the Governing Board, including collating and distributing agendas and associated paperwork in advance of meetings and producing accurate and well-presented minutes for distribution in a timely fashion
  • Advising the Governing Board on procedural and constitutional matters, duties and powers and work within the broad current legislative framework.
  • Attending relevant training events and Clerks’ Briefings to keep informed and up-to-date
  • Other duties include organising and attending panels, parent governor recruitment and maintaining the Governor calendar, policy file and portal.

Experience, particularly in administration, is desirable but not essential as training will be provided. Candidates should have an interest in education, be tactful and able to deal with matters confidentially.
