Supporting the learning of your child at home:

So that we can work as a team in supporting your child's progress, I have suggested some ways you can support your child this term as they make the transition into Year 1.

  • Read and talk about books together - daily is ideal. Listening to you read, as well as reading to you, will enhance the children's love of reading stories.
  • Practise reading sight words and phonics words - these will be sent home to reinforce learning in school.
  • Support your children with their homework if needed. The children can choose an activity to complete each week from the grid in their homework book. This homework is optional.
