Oh the places we could go!

   Welcome Back!

Hope everyone has had a fantastic Easter break! We are now into the summer term and the children will need to bring in sun hats and water bottles.

This term is another exciting one as we are going to be looking comparing the UK with Kenya in Africa!. We will be looking at what life is life in Africa and learning about the big 5!

Texts we will be reading this term are Handa's Suprise and The lighthouse Keepers Lunch.

Homework

We have a new homework policy, and for Year One the compulsory homework will be to read at least 4 times a week. Please remember to write in your child's blue book so they can be changed on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday. The other compulsory homework will be the spellings sent home weekly.(children are not tested) The homework grid is an optional homework if your child wants to do more. I will also be setting some optional additional math homework using My Maths.

Growth Mindset

In our class we are trying to exercise our brains and become better learners. We are training ourselves to understand we may not be able to do something now, but that is OK because we will soon. The children understand the power of the word YET!

Please note*

We are finding lots of PE kit/ uniform items lying around, but are unable to return them to the correct owners due to having no names. Every child has a very similar uniform and it is so hard to find missing items when they all look the same. Please make sure all clothing items are named including coats, hats, gloves and scarves so we can make sure the right items are given to the correct owners. Unnamed items that are unclaimed will end up in our spare clothes box.

Library is on a Wednesday afternoon.

Homework is collected in on a Thursday.

Forest school is every other Thursday see website for dates.

PE is Tuesday and every other Thursday.

Year 1 fruit kebabs (29 images)

On Thursday 5th May the children made their own fruit kebabs using a design they had earlier created. We used different cutting skills and had a wonderful time. They particularly enjoyed eating them afterwards.
