Welcome to our Year 4 page!

Teachers: Mrs O’Doherty & Mr Halliwell

Teaching Assistants: Mrs Humphery & Mrs Dahdouh

Topic

Our topic for the autumn term is 'Vicious Vikings'.

Click here for the Curriculum Map.

We will be doing a quick update on what happened after the Romans left, introducing the Angle Saxons and then delving into the era of Vikings in Britain.

*

This term, children have been provided with a range of tasks, linked to Vikings, to complete for homework. Click here to see what they will be up to.

English

(Taught this term by Mrs O’Doherty)

We are currently exploring Non-Chronological reports, focussing on the use of sub-headings, facts and technical language.

We will also be continuing with spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPAG) work linked to GIMME 4. This includes punctuation, conjunctions, adverbials and different types of sentences. Children are encouraged to think about these elements in each piece of writing they do across the curriculum.

Maths

(Taught this term by Mr Halliwell)

Our first unit is number and place value.

Within the unit, children will be reading, writing, ordering and comparing numbers. Children will also be interpreting negative numbers in context and counting forwards and backwards with positive and negative whole numbers, including through zero.
